University Writing offers free writing support to all Auburn students. We invite you to make appointments with the Miller Writing Center, register for our Graduate Student Programs, and access online writing resources. Miller Writing Center
The Miller Writing Center is open for the fall semester from August 26 to December 6, with free, one-on-one writing appointments available on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday–Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Make up to three online, in-person, or asynchronous appointments per week through Advise Assist. Graduate Student Programs
WriteFest is a series of four workshops offering structured writing time and education about habits that support productivity while completing longer projects. These sessions incorporate reflection and mindfulness to encourage well-being while writing. Sessions will be held every other week beginning September 4, and attendance can be in person or virtual. Complete the WriteFest registration form by September 2 to register for the program.
Graduate Writing Groups can help you maintain progress on your current writing projects, such as your dissertation, thesis, course project, or ePortfolio. Participants will check in with their group members to share their weekly writing goals, reflect on their writing progress and challenges, and encourage each other. Please complete the Graduate Writing Groups registration form by September 2.
The Graduate Research and Writing Studio is a weekly writing retreat with a graduate writing consultant and research librarian available to answer questions as needed. The Studio will meet every Tuesday between September 3 and November 19 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. in RBD Library. Please complete the Graduate Research and Writing Studio survey to register for the program.
Graduate Writing Partners pairs graduate students with a Miller Writing Center graduate writing consultant for a semester’s worth of one-on-one writing appointments. Participants will attend two hours of standing appointments each week for the entire semester. Attendance can be in person or virtual. To be eligible for this program, you must have an advisor/professor who is willing to submit a recommendation. Please complete the Graduate Writing Partners application by October 27 to apply to be matched with an MWC graduate writing consultant for the spring semester.
Outstanding Sustainability Essay Contest
University Writing and the Academic Sustainability Program seek submissions for the Outstanding Sustainability Essay Award.
Auburn’s Common Read for 2024 is The Music of Bees, a novel by Eileen Garvin, and the essay prompts reflect themes in the book. Please read the full call for submissions and submit your essay by October 1. Winners will be honored at a special event with Eileen Garvin.
